Well-Being Grants for Farming Communities
OverviewThis program aims to support organisations and community-led initiatives that will help support the mental health, long-term well-being and resilience of farming communities.
The primary objective of the program is to support organisations and community-led well-being initiatives which:
- Encourage community participation, promote individual and/or community resilience and reduce stigma associated with mental illness.
- Support the development of networks and partnerships between communities, local community groups, not-for-profit organisations and primary mental health services operating in the community.
- Maximise access to and use of community resources, services and facilities including equity of access for people experiencing social exclusion, marginalisation or isolation.
There are three levels of grants available:
- Small Grant (up to $2,500): Applications require the response to include a basic budget.
- Medium Grant ($2,501–$10,000): Applications require a response to include a basic budget and supporting documentation.
- Large Grant ($10,001–$50,000): Applications require a more detailed description, a detailed budget and quotes/estimates (if applicable).
Eligible applicants include:
- Not-for-profit incorporated organisations
- Individuals or organisations able to provide evidence of being auspiced by a not-for-profit incorporated organisation
- Social enterprises
- Community groups
- Local Governments
- Sporting clubs
In addition, the individual/organisation must have a bank account in its name with two signatories.
Eligible range of activities and initiatives that may be considered appropriate to support community-led well-being include (but are not limited to):
- Community events or workshops that promote resilience and reduce stigma associated with mental illness and accessing mental health and suicide prevention services.
- Programs aimed at building community networks and social cohesion.
- Complementary and lifestyle interventions known to improve physical and mental health, that can be delivered in a group setting, such as exercise and well-being classes.
- Community education on topics such as managing stress, anxiety, depression and stigma.
- Financial and business education aimed at relieving financial stress of the farming community.
The following are ineligible for funding:
- Profit-making organisations/activities where the profits are allocated to the shareholders, owners or members.
- Activities that duplicate existing services.
