COVID-19 NSW: Business – COVID-19 Fee and Licence Relief

Overview

This program aims to support COVID-19 affected NSW businesses by waiving a range of licence and permit fees for 12 months. It forms part of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 economic stimulus package.

The relief period is 12 months from
- 1 April 2020
- 15 April 2020
- 20 April 2020

Eligible fees and licences include:
1. Liquor and Gaming NSW
- Businesses like restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, hotels, bottle shops (with three or less outlets) and most other licensed venues will benefit from the following being waived:
a) New liquor licence application fees and pro-rata liquor licence fees.
b) Annual liquor licence base fees and trading hours risk loading fees.
- Compliance risk loadings will not be waived, but deferred and included as part of 2021-2022 annual liquor licence fees.
- Fee waivers for these licences start from 1 April.

2. NSW Fair Trading
-  For 1 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for:
a) Paintball venue permit
b) Tattoo parlour operator licence
- From 15 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for
a) Home building contractor licence
b) Trade or specialist contractor licence
c) Motor vehicle repairer specialist licence
- From 20 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for:
a) Licence fee waivers for tattooists
b) Home Building: Qualified Supervisor Certificates
c) Home Building: Tradesperson Certificates
d) Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificates

3. SafeWork NSW
- From 1 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for:
a) Pyrotechnician licence
b) Registration permit of amusement device
- From 15 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for:
a) Asbestos removal licences and asbestos assessor licence
b) Demolition licence
c) High risk work licence
- From 20 April new application and renewal fees will be waived for:
a) High Risk Work Assessor Accreditation
b) SafeWork Registered Training Organisations (for asbestos, construction and high risk work training) – new applications only
